It’s like we’re having a competition to see who’s president can kill the most people. US is #1 (of course) but PH and Brazil aren't far behind.

I'm no scientist, but I suspect it'll work. You might want to rinse and dry them really well before using them again though.

Please do not clean your masks with gasoline.
![]() 07/31/2020 at 22:13 |

That might actually work, at least somewhat. Better than hanging them from your rearview mirror, anyway.
Maybe mix it with paraffin to waterproof your mask while you clean it.

Not ideal of course, but if you're some poor mountain folk with no resources you might just do what you've gotta do.

Are the long-term health effects of inhaling gasoline fumes all day any better than COVID?

I wasn't, but I guess I am now.

I mean, gasoline does actually do a pretty good job of cleaning stuff but you really don't want it soaked into something you breathe through. It's not bad for cleaning parts and stuff though.

dry them really well
Great way to start a fire if you throw them in the dryer.

If you're in the position to have nothing but gasoline to clean your masks you probably don't have a dryer to worry about. Or non-dirt flooring.

Probably worse, honestly, but only one way to find out. Besides, it will mostly evaporate

Not only is it not an effective disenfectant, the prolonged contact with gasoline-soaked face covering may produce symptoms on a scale from skin irritation to cancer. Please do not clean your masks with gasoline

I just throw mine out at the end of the day, you can’t really clean disposables.

I did mention that I wasn’t scientist. :)
I’ve got a whack of 99% iso and both UV and Corona discharge ozone generators at my disposal. I’m good.

Crazy, or malicious & kinda stupid?
I get that he could absolutely be all three, but most mentally ill people aren’t monsters. Du terte is unquestionably a monster.

Would it be so bad if Duterte & his supporters did, though? I feel like there might be a net positive result.

If you don’t have access to clean running water, then covid is the least of your worries. Best to just set the mask out in the sun for a while.

well what if i mix a tide pod in while its soaking in the gas? I’m sure i’d be fine
![]() 07/31/2020 at 22:40 |

Rear- view mirror might not be a bad spot if parked in the sun. Heats up car interiors nicely. Plus UV from sun, and just time should help quite a bit more than gasoline.

We tried it at Jollibee. I thought I would hate it, but it wasn’t bad.

Follow it with a match, and yes, it will disinfect anything. Killing germs is easy- it’s salvaging the mask ( or person) around the germs that is the art of medicine
